Culinary and Baking Arts

SUNY Adirondack's Culinary and Baking Arts program provides in-depth instruction for students to learn the fundamentals of culinary and baking arts. This program complements our Culinary Arts degree and Culinary certificate. You will gain comprehensive hands-on experience while running a fully functioning restaurant.

Learning outcomes

  1. Employ restaurant sanitation procedures with ServSafe Certification.
  2. Demonstrate competency in cooking fundamentals and techniques.
  3. Demonstrate competency in baking, pastry, dessert preparation and procedures.
  4. Demonstrate costing and purchasing needed for food and beverage management.
  5. Implement writing of menus and restaurant recipes.
  6. Identify and present professional skills needed for entry-level or management positions in the culinary field.
     

Curriculum and requirements

Students study onsite at the college's culinary facility, immersing you in the food industry. The facility includes a fine-dining student-run restaurant and a gluten-free lab. You will prepare and serve three-course gourmet meals to the public. This program offers internships in regional restaurants and hotels.
